Recklinghausen shines: color games and drone shows until November 9th!
The city of Recklinghausen is currently shining with colorful lights and fascinating shows. As part of the “Recklinghausen shines” event, the city center will be transformed into a radiant sea of lights until November 9, 2025. The daily light shows from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the town hall attract numerous visitors and offer an unforgettable experience for young and old. This evening, visitors can also expect an exclusive drone show, which gave goosebumps on October 24th at 8 p.m. when the lights lit up the sky while guests gathered around the town hall. Ruhr24 reports that the city has the motto “Cycle of the Elements – Earth and Air” and visitors are invited to be part of it magical atmosphere.
In addition, the terrace glowing will be celebrated on the church square on October 25th. There are not only free drinks and snacks here, but also the opportunity to spend a few relaxing hours with friends and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the lights. On October 26th, a short concert under the direction of Rasmus Baumann took place in the St. Peter's Propsteikirche - musical experiences beyond the usual light.
Creative photography and city tours
For all hobby photographers and creative minds, there is an exciting photo competition entitled “The most beautiful photo of the shining city”. The best entries will be awarded: 750 euros for first place, 500 euros for second place and 250 euros for third place. In addition, 12 photos will be recorded in an annual calendar for 2026. Submissions are possible until November 11th.
Another highlight are the free city tours, which can be booked at the Westenergie Counter on the town hall square. These tours enable visitors to discover the masterpieces of the radiant city and learn more about the history of Recklinghausen. The combination of culture, light and a sociable atmosphere makes “Recklinghausen shines” a very special experience.
Arrival made easy
If you want to travel by car, you can easily take the A43 from the north or south and exit at the Recklinghausen/Herten exit. If you are traveling from the east, take the A2 and the Recklinghausen Ost exit. If you come from the west, you can get directly into the heart of the city via the Recklinghausen motorway junction and the A43. From 4 p.m. you can park for free at certain parking spaces:
- Parkplatz Saalbau/Dorstener Straße (P10)
- Konrad-Adenauer-Platz (P11)
- Hertener Straße 15 (P12)
Of course, the city center is also easily accessible by public transport, as over 20 bus lines and night express lines run into the city center. Just get in, sit back and enjoy the ride!
Before the grand finale, there will be joint activities and a shopping Sunday on November 9th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., before the event culminates with a final drone show.
