Trampoline hall in Recklinghausen ablaze - fire brigade on a large scale!
On the night of Friday to Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Recklinghausen fire department was called to an alarming operation at the “Lange Wanne”. At 2:10 a.m. the emergency services received a report that a trampoline hall was in full flames. When the fire brigade arrived, the hall, which had an area of 50 x 40 meters, was already fully engulfed in flames. The operations management immediately became active and alerted additional forces.
A particularly challenging situation arose as an interior attack was not possible due to the flames and high temperatures. Instead, the fire department focused on an external attack and protecting the adjacent buildings. This was particularly important because the help of the fire department made it possible to successfully bring neighboring houses to safety.
Lengthy firefighting work and injuries
The extinguishing work took several hours and lasted until around 9:30 a.m. While the first units were released at around 5:00 a.m., all available Recklinghausen fire brigade personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control. To extinguish the fire, an excavator from a construction company was even used to tear down the completely burned-out building. Due to these measures, there was only one slightly injured firefighter who was taken to hospital but was soon released. Fortunately, no further injuries were reported.
In order to inform residents, danger information was distributed via the “NINA” warning app. The German Red Cross also came into action and provided food for the emergency services on site. Two ambulances and an emergency doctor also arrived to provide support in order to be ready in the event of further medical emergencies.
Investigation into the cause of the fire
After extinguishing the fire, the fire site was handed over to the police, who have now begun investigating the cause of the fire and the exact extent of the damage. So far, however, there is no information about this. The size of the fire was considerable, with an area of around 2,000 square meters that had to be extinguished, and the emergency services were required until the early hours of the morning.
The situation once again shows the importance of a quick response and cooperation by the fire brigade and other rescue services in emergencies. With a cool head and great commitment, the emergency services were able to prevent the worst. It is to be hoped that the cause of the fire will soon be clarified.
