Weekend full of fun: events from dog swimming to cinema festivals!
There will be a lot of partying and cleaning in Solingen this weekend! Numerous events attract people to the city and promise fun and entertainment for young and old. Who knows, maybe you'll discover a bargain or two at the flea market or enjoy a varied cultural evening.
Particularly noteworthy is the traditional Dirt Away Day, which has been held in Düsseldorf since 1999 and now also in Solingen. Under the motto “Tackling instead of looking away”, citizens and various groups are mobilizing to clear streets, parks and riverside areas of rubbish. This event not only promotes environmental protection, but also civic engagement, which is a great opportunity for all participants to actively contribute to beautifying their surroundings. The Dirt Trail Day takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Solingen-Gräfrath, with a meeting point in the parking lot at the Fauna, supported by the Gräfrather Heimatverein. Anyone who would like to take part is warmly invited, regardless of group affiliation - whether family, friends or alone.
A variety of activities in Solingen
The weekend has a lot in store: The Zöppkesmarkt takes place in Solingen's city center on Friday and runs until Sunday evening. For those interested in culture, there will be an anniversary celebration in the Eventschmiede in Münsten's Brückenpark, where old craft techniques and interesting exhibitions will be shown from Friday to Saturday.
If you're looking for a social get-together, you shouldn't miss the Bavarian Evening in the Walder Stadtsaal. There you can enjoy Bavarian festival beer and traditional music, while cinema fans can attend the cinema festival in Lumen, where all films only cost 5 euros - there are even 3D films!
On Saturday there will be a flea market in Solingen-Höhscheid, organized by Kita Confetti and TSV Solingen. Another highlight are the model railway days, which will attract many model railway fans on both Saturday and Sunday. And for music lovers, there are various concerts and comedy shows, including with comedian Markus Barth and DJ sets in the Cobra.
Cultural highlights at the end
Things get particularly exciting on Sunday: Open Monument Day offers numerous visits in Solingen and Remscheid. A costume tour in picturesque Gräfrath from 2 p.m. provides insights into local history and culture. The weekend is complemented by a concert by the Evangelical trombone choirs Gräfrath and Wald as well as a children's theater piece in the WTT. These events promise not only entertainment, but also the opportunity to create special moments with family and friends.
The multitude of events shows once again how lively Solingen can be. Whether it's the dirt day, the cultural offerings or the numerous markets - the city offers a colorful spectrum of activities that leave no one indifferent. Pack up the family, touch the neighbors and let's have a nice weekend together!
