Interesting things about athletics
Athletics has a long tradition in Germany and is very popular. Around 7.9 million people show great interest in this sport. The discipline combines various running, jumping and throwing bars and always attracts a large audience at the Olympics and international championships. But not only the elite has its place-also the popular sport is booming: Around seven million Germans like to work in running in their free time, with the German Athletics Association (DLV) in 2024 more members in women than among men as Statista reports.
