Jahnstadion Soest: Grand reopening with BVB's traditional team on August 29th!
The Jahnstadion in Soest will soon shine in new splendor. After a comprehensive renovation that was long overdue, the reopening is imminent. The highlight of the stadium, which has been used for sporting activities for 70 years, is a new synthetic running track that replaces the old cinder track. The footballers are also offered a real grass pitch, which significantly improves the playing conditions. Loud Hellweg Radio Thomas Nübel from the city of Soest is organizing the official celebration, which will take place on August 29th, when the BVB traditional team plays against a Soest city team. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
The renovation work, which will begin next week, has become necessary because the sports areas are getting old. There were always age-related problems such as compacted substructure and uneven surfaces. These deficiencies make a comprehensive renovation unavoidable, which not only affects the running track and the main square, but also addresses the widespread signs of aging of the facility. The total costs for the renovation amount to around 967,000 euros, although fortunately a large part of the finances are covered by subsidies.
Sustainable funding for sports facilities
A large number of funding comes from the ministries of homeland, municipal affairs, construction and equality in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction. A total of 704,496 euros will flow into the renovation of the Jahnstadion. This financial support from the state and federal government is part of a broader program aimed at modernizing sports facilities and securing their use. Loud Urban development funding The funding is intended for urban development measures in the sports sector and covers both renovation and new construction projects if they are part of an integrative development plan.
Similar challenging renovation projects are currently underway in the municipality of Bad Sassendorf, where grass pitches are also being modernized. These measures show that urban sports infrastructures are often under pressure and need investments in order to meet the requirements and sporting standards. The development of the Jahnstadion is being followed with interest from many sides, as it is a small piece of sporting history for the region.
With the upcoming reopening, a further step will be taken to revitalize and increase the attractiveness of the Jahnstadion. Whether at events or in everyday life, the new grass field and the synthetic running track offer excellent conditions for athletes and spectators alike. So it remains to be seen how the stadium will look in the coming months.
