Laura Voß: With speed and tactics to become a hurdle sensation in Gladbeck!

The Cologne athletics fans can be happy: Laura Voß from LAZ Soest remains in top form in the 400 meter hurdles sprint and once again achieved under a minute in the pole and sprint meeting in Gladbeck. She won with an impressive time of 59.89 seconds and thus consolidated her rhythm skills ahead of the upcoming German Championships in Dresden at the beginning of August. Her best time so far this season is 59.73 seconds, which makes her serious competition.

At this meeting she beat Antonia Skoruppa from LG Olympia Dortmund by a large margin, who finished in 68.74 seconds. Voß showed in Gladbeck that she is not only fast, but also thinks strategically. She realized that she lost some time at the final hurdles - numbers nine and ten - because she was too close to the hurdles. For the upcoming championships, the athlete plans to revise her tactics and tackle the first hurdles more aggressively. “I think this will help me run faster,” says Voß. reports the Soester Anzeiger.

Knighthood for the athlete

The race in Gladbeck wasn't the only highlight of the current season. Voß also delivered a brilliant performance in the sprint into May in Dortmund-Lanstrop. With 59.83 seconds she qualified directly for the German Championships and showed a confident race performance. Until the fifth hurdle she ran in a 15's rhythm before switching to 16's and 17's rhythm. The LAZ Soest highlights that she set a new club record in the 400 meter hurdles race, which was previously held at 67.12 seconds by Delia Ponomarenko.

Voß completed the all-around chapter last season and won two German championship titles in the indoor pentathlon as well as medals in the heptathlon. In the last three years, no other female runner in Westphalia has been faster over the 400 meter hurdles. These impressive performances could prove worth their weight in gold if she continues to maintain her form in crucial competitions over the next few weeks.

The future in sight

With a British trainer at her side, Sam Stanislaus, who has provided her technical support for the last six years, Voß is optimistic about her upcoming challenges. The goal is the German Championships in Dresden, where she would like to adapt her tactics and possibly improve her best time again. So it remains exciting to see whether the Cologne native can realize her dream of a medal in August.
