Middle Ages up close: Soest Fehde thrills with historical spectacle!
The city of Soest is planning a varied event for history and medieval lovers. This year's Soest Feud, a colorful festival that recreates the historic 15th-century siege of Soest, will take place from August 1st to 3rd, 2025. Around 900 actors from 12 different nations pull out all the stops to bring the European Middle Ages to life. So reported presse-service.de that this event takes place in the charming surroundings of the historic ramparts of Soest.
What can visitors expect? A rich program is offered on the three days of the event, ranging from crafts and music to juggler performances. The focus is on the impressive reenactment of the “Great Storm on the City of Soest of 1447”, which will provide exciting moments every day. Participants can experience live historical demonstrations and see how the soldiers prepare to storm or defend the city. With skilled craftsmen and market stalls, the event is reminiscent of old traditions and customs, it is reported so-ist-soest.de.
A celebration for the whole family
The Soester Fehde is not only a spectacle for adults, but also suitable for the whole family, although the organizers point out that children under the age of six may not be able to be optimally looked after due to the volume. Tickets are available in advance, the entry price is 14.00 euros (reduced 10.00 euros) and is for standing room only.
Another highlight of the event will be the celebratory entry of the Young Duke John of Cleves on August 2nd at 12:30 p.m., which will be attended by around 1,000 participants.
Cultural diversity and more
But the Soest feud is just the beginning of an eventful month. From July 23rd to 26th, the open air musical “Das Kalkül” will be performed on the stage in the town hall courtyard. From July 28th there will also be a series of lectures and concerts that enrich the cultural offering. So every visitor can look forward to an all-round successful experience.
