In Dabringhausen, this Saturday, June 14, 2025, the village park will be a musical meeting place for young and old Dabringhausen wind orchestra (BOD) invites you to an open air concert from 5 p.m. that will make visitors' hearts beat faster. Both wind classes and the student and youth orchestra will present their talents, while the “Oldstars” under the direction of Ralf von Tegelen will provide nostalgic sounds. From 8:30 p.m. the brass band “Fetzblech” from Wipperfeld takes over and ensures a lively end to the evening. Admission is free and there is plenty of seating available. There's a big raffle for everyone who wants to try their luck, so don't go!
But that's not all the weekend has to offer in the region. The “Grünewald Classics” event will take place at Grünewald Castle on June 14th and 15th. Here, lovers of classic cars and special vehicles can enjoy the display of around 400 participating vehicles in an impressive setting. The daily opening hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. invite you to exchange ideas with like-minded automobile fans. For 16 euros in advance or 18 euros at the box office, or 28 euros for an online ticket, visitors can enjoy an eventful day.
Diverse offers on Sunday
Would visitors also like to experience something on Sunday? Then a visit to the LVR open-air museum in Lindlar is on the agenda. A day of action will be celebrated here from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that deals with traditional textile crafts and sustainable clothing. Visitors have the opportunity to bring up to ten items of clothing for an exchange. The entry fee is 8 euros for adults, children and young people under 18 can even come in free of charge.
Another highlight this weekend is the Burscheid Old Town Festival, which takes place from June 13th to 15th. It starts on Friday at 2 p.m. with the tapping of the barrel at 7 p.m. Over three days, guests can expect a colorful stage program that lasts until late in the evening.
For culture and music lovers
Those interested in culture shouldn't miss Armin Tofahrn's reading in Solingen-Oberburg. This evening at 7 p.m. his book “Sex-Näpfchen” will be presented, accompanied by the sounds of blues piano by Tom Hoelscher. Admission costs 15 euros, and a culinary accompaniment can be booked additionally for 14 euros.
And for everyone who is longing for something lively in the evening, the band Juicy Souls will transform the Burger Kirche into a discotheque with a mix of soul and disco sounds from the 1960s and 1970s from 8 p.m. Admission is also 15 euros.
The Dabringhausen wind orchestra can look back on a long tradition and plays an important role in the cultural life of the region. It was founded in 1903 and has continued to develop musically over the years. Under the leadership of highly qualified music teachers, the orchestra impresses with a wide-ranging repertoire, ranging from marching music to sophisticated symphonic brass music. The great anticipation for today's concert is therefore more than justified - not only locally, but also in the wider region around Dabringhausen and Wermelskirchen.
