Great excitement at VfL Kamen: The talented sprinterIvan Horbenkowill be competing next weekend at the German Athletics Championships for under 18s in the Lohrheide Stadium in Bochum-Wattenscheid. The competition will be a crucial highlight in his career so far and expectations are high.
Horbenko will compete in the 100 meters on Saturday and the 200 meters on Sunday. In the 100 meter discipline, 57 athletes registered who beat the standard of 11.30 seconds - impressive competition. With a personal best of 11.08 seconds, achieved in adverse wind conditions, Horbenko could have a good run. But the faster time of 10.82 seconds, which he may have run this year with too much tailwind, is also on the minds of his coaches Peter Westermann and Hans-Helmut Götte. They are cautiously optimistic about their protégé's training performance and expect his position in the German rankings to improve.

Here the sixteen runners-up from the seven semi-finals will qualify for the finals.
