Today, November 3rd, 2025, things will get exciting in the Unna district! The newly elected mayor and a female mayor will take up their positions with immediate effect. In a welcome step, a breath of fresh air is being blown into the region's town halls, as a total of six new mayors and one female mayor have successfully asserted themselves. Despite the new appointments, things remain the same in Schwerte, Unna and Kamen: the previous incumbents were able to defend their offices and are continuing their work. However, the most changes in the town hall occurred in seven other cities and municipalities. The new officials officially began their duties on Saturday, and citizens can look forward to new impulses.
Swearing-in and first council meetings
The official swearing-in of the new office holders is still pending and will take place in the coming council meetings. The new council in Kamen is meeting today to set the course for the future. The council meetings on Thursday will also provide fresh momentum in Lünen, Bergkamen and Holzwickede. In the other municipalities, the constituent meetings are planned for the next few weeks so that the new mayors can quickly grow into their tasks.
The elections are a clear sign of change and offer citizens the opportunity to benefit from new ideas and perspectives. While continuity is maintained in the larger cities, people in the other communities can hope for innovative approaches to address local challenges. After all, every new mayor brings with him a lot of fresh air.
