Metzinger Maultaschen-Fäschdival: A festival for gourmets!

Next weekend, the tranquil town of Metzingen will be the venue for the first “Maultaschen-Fäschdival”. From June 21st to 22nd, 2025, the city center will become a culinary festival mile and will offer almost 50 stands and local restaurateurs a stage to celebrate the world of Maultaschen. This event, which is considered Germany's largest Maultaschen Fäschdival, is intended to introduce visitors not only to traditional variants, but also to creative new interpretations.

The motto “Dumplings from all over the world, unite” sounds promising and invites you to an enjoyable journey of discovery. More than 150 different Maultaschen are presented – from classic recipes to modern creations. The variety here ranges from vegan and vegetarian options to folded and rolled Maultaschen to innovative variants such as Maultaschen ice cream and Maultaschen burgers. Radiowaf reports that international dumplings such as Mongolian dumplings and Indian samosas will also be part of the offer. Those with a sweet tooth will also get their money's worth: Maultaschen with fillings made of chocolate, marzipan or nougat are offered.

Culinary diversity and culture

To accompany this culinary journey, there is an extensive supporting program. Visitors can not only try numerous variations of Maultaschen, but also take part in cooking courses. Here you will learn to prepare the traditional dumplings yourself. Those interested will also find Maultaschen recipes, spices and kitchen accessories that make preparation at home easier. Of course, there is also entertainment, with competitions and cultural offerings that create a pleasant atmosphere.

Metzingen, known for its outlet city and resident-friendly charm, awaits numerous gourmets and those who want to become one. Opening times are on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. As the city of Metzingen reveals on its website, further information about participating shops and promotions will be available shortly. The history of Maultaschen

But what are these wonderful Maultaschen actually? Loud ZDF Maultaschen are classic pasta-like dumplings filled with minced meat and vegetables and they originally come from Swabian cuisine. Interestingly, they are also called “Herrgottsbescheißerle”, which refers to their history in Maulbronn Monastery, where they were supposedly developed during Lent to hide meat. The possible fillings are as diverse as the recipes themselves; there are an estimated one million Maultaschen recipes in Baden-Württemberg alone.

The “Maultaschen-Fäschdival” in Metzingen will not only be a feast for the guests, but also a celebration of regional culture and tradition. You have a good hand if you don't miss this event!
