Enjoyment for a good cause: New Wuppertal cookbook is published!
A new cookbook brings Wuppertal's gastronomic diversity to the city's plates: “At the table in Wuppertal” is the title and is published by the Lions Club Wuppertal-Mitte. The book combines enjoyment, hospitality and social commitment. 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale benefit social projects, with Tafel Wuppertal being one of the main recipients. The initiative aims to promote Wuppertal's food culture and at the same time help those in need.
The hardcover book is an impressive 144 pages long and presents around 50 gastronomic hotspots in Wuppertal. In six geographical chapters - including the northern and southern heights as well as the Luisenviertel and the valley axis - the restaurateurs offer deeper insights into their cuisines and lives. Marie Haus, the project manager, developed the concept together with Alexander and Karoline Flüchter. The chefs not only share their recipes, but also tell personal stories and show authentic photos of their dishes.
A look at the diversity of Wuppertal's gastronomy
The book presents a colorful mix of recipes that are both regionally and internationally inspired and are suitable for different levels of difficulty. The publication is supported by local partners who have almost completely covered the production costs. This makes the project particularly attractive for everyone involved. The restaurateurs obviously have a good knack for creative, smart recipes that not only inspire, but also invite you to cook them and give them as gifts.
From October 31, 2025, “Am Tisch in Wuppertal” will be available in akzenta stores in Wuppertal and online. The retail price of 29.90 euros is very reasonable, especially considering the good cause that the proceeds go to. In addition to Tafel Wuppertal, numerous other local social projects are also supported.
Inspiration from other projects
With the new cookbook, the people of Wuppertal not only focus on tasty recipes, but also on the idea of togetherness. It is an appeal to the local food culture and at the same time a poignant initiative for those who need help.
