Pinpoint GmbH: Saxony's start-up hope with precise navigation!
Dresden, Deutschland - The Pinpoint GmbH , an outlet at the Technical University of Chemnitz, has established itself as one of the four most promising start-ups. The company was nominated for the special prize "Saxony-Start-up 2025", and online voting for the competition runs until May 11, 2025. The award ceremony will take place on May 16, 2025 in the glass manufactory of Volkswagen in Dresden and is endowed with 60,000 euros in medial services.
founded in 2021 by Dr. Marko Rößler, Dr. Thomas Graichen and Daniel Froß, Pinpoint GmbH has set itself the goal of developing precise interior navigation via smartphones. The company currently employs 17 people and received an exist-research transfer funding from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection to promote its innovative approaches.
innovative technology for interior navigation
The technology of Pinpoint uses Ultra-Breitband (UWB) to enable untracked interior navigation. Existing systems often do not offer the desired accuracy, scalability and privacy-factors that are particularly important in overcrowded situations, such as in subway during rush hour or in shopping centers. The UWB technology enables precise navigation with an accuracy in the centimeter range and can theoretically support an unlimited number of user devices at the same time, which facilitates the application in large crowds.
Another advantage of this technology is the protection of personal data. The location of the user device itself determines the device itself, which prevents users from being pursued and thus protects the privacy of the users. The UWB anchors that are required for the location determination must be installed, but do not require a wired network connection, which makes the installation both simple and inexpensive.
research and development in Saxony
in Saxony, especially at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, a strong focus is on research in various areas, including energy, environment and economic transformation processes. The university offers a variety of courses and supports entrepreneurs through programs such as the startup academy and talent promotion. This environment promotes innovations and offers important resources for aspiring companies such as Pinpoint GmbH. More information can be found on Startups-saxony.de .
With a view to the award ceremony in May and the ongoing developments, it remains to be seen how Pinpoint GmbH will continue to assert itself on the market and what influence its technology could have on future applications in the field of interior navigation.
