Rain defies talent: 57 footballers at the DFB sighting day in Bad Reichenhall!

Bad Reichenhall, Deutschland - On May 21, 2025, the first large DFB talent vision day took place in the Nonner stadium in Bad Reichenhall. The event attracted 57 young footballers of the 2014 year, who wanted to prove their skills. Despite the adverse circumstances due to heavy rainfall, which affected the implementation, the sighting of Franz-Xaver Butzhammer from Saaldorf was organized and carried out.

A total of 63 children from 15 clubs had registered for the event, but six of them could not take part due to injuries or illnesses. The viewing games were carried out in small groups, whereby the children competed in the form of 3 against 3, 4 and 5 against 5 on small field, mini and third gates.

review and evaluation of the talent

Each game was evaluated by two visiting, including trainers such as Max Danner, Tom Mooser and Sepp Aschauer. After a 45-minute rain break, the so-called champions mode continued. At the end of the day, 18 young players were on the preliminary selection list, but after further sighting there could be additional talents.

Further sightings are already planned in the clubs, and there will be a custody on June 2. The aim of the entire measure is to include the successfully viewed players in the DFB talent promotion program. This program represents the first systematic level for football talents in Germany and is aimed at giving, discovered and promoted to each child.

DFB talent promotion program in the context

The DFB talent promotion program comprises 339 bases nationwide and promotes around 14,000 talented players. A network of 1,200 qualified base trainers ensures the sighting and individual promotion of young players. These benefit from weekly training, which facilitates the transition between club youth work and the performance centers or elite schools.

The training in the talent promotion program focuses on individual funding in order to develop playful, technically experienced and creative players. Juniors receive the advantages of this training up to the age group U 15, while juniors can benefit up to the U 16. With such structured programs, the DFB strives to discover the best talents early on and to develop their skills in order to strengthen German football sustainably.

The event in Bad Reichenhall is therefore an important step in this way and offers the young talents a platform to show their potential and become part of the large football family.
