75 years of ADAC in RLP: A look at the future of mobility!

On June 23, 2025, a very special anniversary was celebrated in the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate: The ADAC looks back on 75 years of successful work in the region. Numerous representatives from politics and society came together on this festive occasion to honor the club's achievements. Prime Minister Alexander Schweitzer and ADAC Vice President Dr. Hilmar Siebert conveyed congratulations to the regional clubs ADAC Mittelrhein e.V. and ADAC Pfalz e.V., both of which were founded in 1950 and have developed into modern mobility service providers over the years, as ADAC Rheinland-Pfalz reports.

Schweitzer particularly emphasized the role of the ADAC as a reliable partner in the areas of mobility and traffic safety. This position is even more important, especially when you think about the daily challenges in traffic. The ADAC is not just a breakdown helper, but has diversified its offering and now also includes services such as telemedicine services and support for cyclists in the event of breakdowns.

Insight into developments

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the ADAC currently has eleven locations with around 245 employees. These are based in cities such as Bad Kreuznach, Mainz and Trier and offer members comprehensive services. Whether it’s selling first-aid kits, financing vehicles or booking trips – you can find individually tailored solutions here. For example, the ADAC travel agency arranges package tours, cruises and active holidays in collaboration with well-known operators, as can be read on the [ADAC Rheinland-Pfalz] website (https://www.adac-rheinland-pfalz.de/).

Rudi Speich, the chairman of ADAC Mittelrhein e.V., reported during the celebrations that the number of members in Rhineland-Palatinate is around 1.3 million. In total, the ADAC has over 22 million members nationwide, making it the largest traffic club in Europe. The General German Automobile Club e. V. was founded in 1903 and has since taken on an important role in traffic safety and mobility, as Wikipedia documents.

Social responsibility and commitment

Joachim Ohmer, chairman of ADAC Pfalz e.V., focused on the club's social responsibility. The ADAC is not only involved in mobility, but also actively in disaster relief, such as during the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley in the summer of 2021, where it supported evacuations and worked closely with rescue workers. This commitment shows that the ADAC goes far beyond the usual breakdown assistance and positions itself as a future-oriented partner for a safe transport system.

Overall, the ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the ADAC in Rhineland-Palatinate was accompanied by a historical review of the club's development, which impressively underlines the transformation from a pure breakdown helper to a modern mobility service provider. The future of the ADAC in Rhineland-Palatinate looks promising, and with a comprehensive range of services it remains an indispensable partner for all road users.
