Younger couple of fraudsters blackmail senior women with nasty tricks in Bad Kreuznach
Horrifying fraud methods have become established in Bad Kreuznach. A 23-year-old man and his 21-year-old partner from Baden-Baden are suspected of deliberately cheating older women out of their valuables. Police have arrested the couple and the incidents highlight the increasing threat to older people from con artists. As the Rhein-Zeitung reports, the perpetrators cleverly disguised themselves as new neighbors and thus gained access to the senior citizens' apartments.
The scam was perfidious: While one of the two distracted the victims with well-intentioned stories, the other sneaked into the women's bedrooms to look for jewelry and other valuables. In August 2025, several senior citizens in Bad Kreuznach were robbed in this way. The 23-year-old had previously asked the older women by telephone whether he could pay a visit and persuaded them to open the door for him. According to a report by the Tagesschau, the affected women were given stories such as a marriage announcement or the perpetrator's upcoming birthday to lure them.
Shocking loot
The crimes sometimes had serious financial consequences for the victims. A 71-year-old woman had to accept a loss of around 5,000 euros in jewelry. A 97-year-old lady even handed over a gold necklace under pressure. It is noteworthy that an 87-year-old woman did not let the couple into her apartment, probably because of her skepticism, and therefore did not become a victim. Unfortunately, such stories are not new: Federal Consumer Assistance has already repeatedly pointed out the risks that endanger older people today and has issued warnings to exercise caution during unexpected visits.
After the arrest in September 2025, numerous evidence was seized during an apartment search. All valuables such as jewelry, watches and cell phones probably came from other similar acts by the couple, who are also said to have been active in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The charge in the Bad Kreuznach district court, where the proceedings are currently underway, is serious gang theft.
Important warnings for consumers
In a similar context, on August 20, 2025, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) imposed an authority action against Colleon AG for carrying out unauthorized financial transfers. Although this case is not directly related to elder fraud, it highlights the importance of regulatory oversight. Consumers should be careful about unexpected payment requests and critically question all claims.
To help senior citizens, it is essential to raise awareness about such scams. The police recommend that you inform the authorities immediately if you suspect something and not allow strangers into your own four walls. The Deceived Couple has shown us all once again how unscrupulous fraudsters can act.
Stay careful and protect yourself and your loved ones! The police advise: When it comes to suspicious phone calls or unexpected visits, skepticism is the best answer. In an emergency, inform the police immediately!
