Rhein-Nahe Triumph: Two championship titles in kickboxing in Leipzig!

The Rhein-Nahe sports club from Langenlonsheim showed its best side during kickboxing at the German Championships organized by WAKO Germany in Leipzig on June 7th and 8th. 582 athletes from 129 clubs competed in a strong field. Unfortunately, the reigning German champion Luca Romano was unable to take part because the regional association refused him permission to start due to missing qualifications. Only one athlete was registered in his weight class, although three places were available.

A small team set off for Leipzig on Friday: four athletes and the two coaches Dirk Pekrul and Kim Herzog. Orell Herzog, a talented fighter from Ramstein, competed in the Younger Cadets point fight up to 32 kg. He showed great performances by winning two fights by technical knockout, but lost in the final to Dominik Diaconu.

Successes and challenges

Constantin Zwiegela from Waldalgesheim was active in the Lightcontact Juniors -79 kg category. He dominated the first round of his fight but was forced to retire in the second round. Theresa Pekrul from Münster-Sarmsheim, on the other hand, caused enthusiasm with her impressive performance. In the Light Contact Juniors -55 kg discipline, she won against the reigning vice-European champion Kateryna Kaida with a clear 3-0. But that wasn't all - Theresa also won the point fight juniors -55 kg against Liya Tosun with 10:6 and thus secured two titles in one day!

On Sunday it was Sebastian Sanchez from Landstuhl's turn, but he couldn't win against the eventual German champion Vadim Oudolnyi. Despite this defeat, the team achieved sensational success with two German championship titles and a second place. The coaches Dirk Pekrul and Kim Herzog were proud of their athletes' achievements and emphasized their commitment.

A look at the future

WAKO Germany's German Kickboxing Championship has become the largest event of its kind, and not without reason. Over 35,000 athletes are active in more than 500 clubs, which has made kickboxing a popular popular sport in Germany in recent years. WAKO Germany promotes youth work, children's and youth work, with the aim of professionalizing the association's structures and achieving medal places at future European and World Championships. The commitment of the WAKO family is seen as the key to future success, and the Rhein-Nahe sports club is sure that the path to a successful future has been paved.

All in all, the participation of the Rhein-Nahe sports club in the German championship was a complete success, and the city of Langenlonsheim can be proud of its athletes. Once again it was shown that great things can be achieved with hard training and team spirit. The actors are now even more motivated to go into the next round of training!
