Bad Kreuznach's Emil Kroisandt wins chip competition with AI innovation!

In an impressive achievement, 16-year-old Emil Kroisandt from the secondary school at the city wall in Bad Kreuznach won the nationwide INVENT a CHIP competition. The competition, which is organized by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the VDE Association of Electrical Engineering Electronics Information Technology, brought together numerous young talents. Emil beat around 1,100 participants from 147 schools and can now collect a proud bonus of 2,000 euros for his innovation. Loud Near news He developed a microchip with AI voice control, which was implemented as a wake word classifier on an FPGA board.

What does that mean exactly? A Wake Word Classifier is a system that reacts and reacts to specific given terms. This technology has great potential in the world of language assistants and shows how innovative and future-oriented the young participants are.

The importance of competition

Emil Kroisandt sees the competition as an excellent opportunity to engage with exciting technology topics and deepen his knowledge of microchip designs. “It is important that young people like him have the chance to work in an environment that promotes creative thinking processes in computer science and electrical engineering,” emphasizes the VDE organization in its press release. The award-winning young people created microchip designs that recognize given words quickly and correctly using a neural network.

In addition, further students qualified for the final round at the MikroSystemTechnik Congress in Duisburg, where the award ceremony will take place. Emil plans to study electrical engineering, computer science or cybersecurity for his future.

Future Talents in Engineering

The INVENT a CHIP competition is not simply an academic exercise; it is a springboard for many talented people who want to pursue a career in the tech industry. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in an exciting IaC camp starting in spring 2025 that will lay the foundation for developing their own AI voice control chips. Not only are technical skills taught here, but there is also the chance to make important contacts and gain practical experience in the industry.

As the VDE press release also highlights, the sponsors include big names such as Bosch, Siemens and Infineon, who support the event and thus promote exchange between business and schools. It shows once again how important it is to give young talents space to realize their ideas and visions.

For Emil and his colleagues, this is an important step towards a promising future. They not only have the opportunity to express their creativity, but also to overcome real challenges in the world of technology together. Who knows, maybe the next big step for Emil is already in sight - the innovative strength of young people is in demand more than ever in the technology industry!
