Honor for Herborn's long-standing heart: Peter Remuta receives state badge of honor

In a celebratory act on October 15, 2025, Peter Remuta was awarded the Rhineland-Palatinate State Badge of Honor for his extraordinary commitment to the community of Herborn. At the award ceremony, which was carried out by District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski, Prime Minister Alexander Schweitzer spoke highly of Remuta's achievements. The local mayor, who served in various roles for 30 years and led the community's fortunes from 1999 to 2024, received the award in recognition of his tireless work for the community.

Remuta, who has sat on the local council since 1994 and served as an alderman from 1995, was re-elected five times during his term of office. During his time as local mayor, he demonstrated a strong commitment to his homeland and was particularly committed to the interests of seniors and young people. He also initiated numerous events that promoted cohesion in the village and enlivened club life. In his acceptance speech, he highlighted the close cooperation with the citizens of Herborn, which contributed to this success.

Comprehensive projects for Herborn

An outstanding project under Remuta's leadership was the modernization of the Königswaldhalle. This hall, once known as the ex-flak building, was recently renamed by the municipality and now offers space for 45 tables and 270 chairs. The renovation included, among other things, a comprehensive energy-saving renovation, the financing of which was cleverly managed through private donations and only 35% of the local community's own contribution. Remuta thanked the many volunteers who actively contributed to the realization of this project and emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the further development of Herborn.

The renovation of the facade, which began last year, represents a further step towards a modern and sustainable village. The citizens of Herborn were heavily involved in the renovation process, which further strengthens the sense of community in the community. These projects clearly show that under Remuta's leadership not only the infrastructure was improved, but also social cohesion was promoted.

As the new local mayor, Thorsten Petry highlighted Remuta's achievements in his speech and noted that his commitment and vision provide valuable impetus for the future of Herborn. It is clear that Remuta’s influence will extend far beyond his term in office.

The award of the State Badge of Honor is not only a personal triumph for Peter Remuta, but also a sign of appreciation for everyone who is active in Herborn and committed to the well-being of the community. At a time when solidarity and volunteerism are needed more than ever, Remuta remains an outstanding example of positive commitment at home.
