Christmas trees in the Palatinate Forest: felling yourself with a hygiene concept!

In Kaiserslautern, the new forestry department manager, Hauke Beeck, has taken over the helm since this summer. As a trained forester and studied forestry scientist, he quickly adapted to his new role. The forestry department, which is considered the largest in the country, requires not only extensive expertise but also great commitment. Beeck has taken over the position on an interim basis, but this doesn't worry him - he emphasizes that the work still has to be done and is optimistic about the future. Rhine Palatinate reports that he attaches great importance to the preservation and sustainable management of the Palatinate Forest.

But the focus is not just on the work in the forestry office. A special highlight is coming: On December 19th and 20th, 2025, citizens can cut Christmas trees themselves. This offer is intended to help spread Christmas cheer despite the cancellation of many Christmas markets. The trees are FSC certified and are cultivated without the use of fertilizers or herbicides. In addition, the “Fair Tree” seal helps to ensure social standards when producing Christmas tree seeds. According to that Weekly newspaper reporter There are various tree species to choose from, such as Nordmann firs, noble firs, pines and spruces.

Sales details

The sale of Christmas trees takes place over two days and at different locations in order to better control the flow of visitors. On Saturday, December 19th, little forest enthusiasts can visit the waterhole forest department from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, the offer unfolds in the Rummelshald forest department. This event is accompanied by measures to ensure the safety of visitors: minimum distances must be maintained and mouth and nose protection is required in the checkout area.

  • Verkaufszeiten:

    • 20. Dezember: 10 bis 16 Uhr in Rummelshald

Parking is available for those arriving by car, and the sales areas are about a five-minute walk away. A packing service makes it easier to transport the felled trees home, which makes the campaign particularly family-friendly. This year, however, there will be no catering. Nevertheless, cashless payment transactions are possible and a hygiene discount is offered.

Special circumstances require special measures, and the new forestry office under the leadership of Hauke Beeck shows that there are creative solutions even in difficult times. Whether cutting trees or in everyday life, Beeck and his team work to strengthen people's connection with nature - in the spirit of a sustainable and fair use of the region's resources. This initiative not only shows the commitment of the forestry department, but also offers the community the opportunity to become part of a child-friendly and environmentally friendly tradition. We saw together and the results are impressive!
