High expectations: Fynn Kratochwil – The motorcycle talent from Mühlhausen!
What an exciting time for motorcycle fans in Germany! Unfortunately there is bad news at the home game at the Sachsenring: For the second time in a row, a German driver is missing from the World Championship driver field. But there is light on the horizon, because ex-driver and team boss Dirk Heidolf has high hopes for a young talent who could represent our country in international motorsport. The Rhine Palatinate reports from Fynn Kratochwil, a 14-year-old motorcyclist from Mühlhausen. Heidolf sees enormous potential in him for the future.
In this seasonal competition series, Kratochwil has the race firmly under control: out of six races in the Northern Talent Cup, he won an impressive five. Further proof of his talent was shown when he finished qualifying on Friday evening with a lead of over half a second over first place. According to Heidolf, Kratochwil is one of the most promising riders in German motorcycle racing and is part of the ADAC funding program that is advancing his career in the scene.
The path to high-performance sport
The challenges in Kratochwil's young life are diverse. The growing rider dreams of a future in the Moto3 or Moto2 World Championship. He sees the current Northern Talent Cup as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills and learn a lot at the same time. “It's about speed, success and the fun of competition,” says Kratochwil, looking optimistically into the future. Inspired by riders like Marc Marquez, whose comeback sparks his admiration, Kratochwil trains hard in the gym and rides his bike to stay fit.
Back to Heidolf: He is sure that Kratochwil's success will not be due to his abilities, but rather to remaining injury-free. In the last two years, no German driver has been represented in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. This is a crucial step on the way to the World Championships, and Heidolf points out that the jump may come too early for Kratochwil due to his age. But the youngster's passion and ambition seem to be putting him on the right track.
Promoting young talents
Supporting young drivers is now more important than ever. ADAC Sports Foundation and the DMSB recently launched the Motorsport Team Germany program to provide a platform for aspiring drivers like Kratochwil. With financial support and important advice, this program supports talent aged 12 to 22 in various motorsport disciplines. This includes not only motorcyclists, but also drivers from automobile racing.
The application deadline for all talented drivers who would like to secure a place in this supported environment is August 31, 2024. The ADAC Sports Foundation has proven to be a significant supporter of motorsport for over 25 years and is supported by big names such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-AMG. In this bright future, it is to be hoped that Kratochwil's example will inspire many more young talents.
To put it in Heidolf's words: "We have hope - and in Fynn Kratochwil perhaps soon a new star in German motorcycle racing."
