On Monday evening, July 14, 2025, at around 9:59 p.m. on the BAB 60 in the direction of Darmstadt, a tractor-trailer was observed driving in serpentine lines. This resulted in other road users having to slow down to avoid a collision. The truck was finally stopped at the Heidenfahrt-Süd rest area and handed over to an inspector. The driver was suspected of driving under the influence of cannabis, as news.de reported.

The police immediately initiated criminal proceedings. A blood sample was also taken and the driver's driver's license was seized. Road users who were affected by the snake driver or who could make observations about his driving behavior were asked to contact the Heidesheim police motorway station on 06132 950-0. These incidents once again illustrate how important it is to be vigilant on the road.

The legal consequences of drug driving should not be underestimated. Even the smallest amounts of drugs in the blood can result in drastic penalties, including fines, points in Flensburg and driving bans. For first-time offenders, this can cost up to 500 euros, plus the high costs of lawyers and possible civil claims in the event of accidents. Drug driving involving danger can even result in prison sentences of up to five years.

The recent events in Heidesheim are a clear alarm call. Such incidents can have fatal consequences for all road users. The police and the ADAC are therefore calling for increased information and regular traffic controls to ensure safety for everyone. Let's stay vigilant and contribute to our safety!
