Wiesbaden: Massive closures of the Wiesbadener Landstraße from September!
From Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, the Wiesbadener Landstrasse in Amöneburg is facing a comprehensive closure. This will last several months in different phases. This particularly affects bus lines 6 and 33, which travel in the direction of Mainz and Kostheim. This is what the Mainzer Mobility website reports.
In the first diversion phase, replacement stops will be set up to help passengers complete their journey. The stop for the Mudra barracks in the direction of Kostheim will be moved about 100 meters before the Wiesbadener Straße intersection. There is a similar regulation for the Dyckerhoffstrasse stop in the direction of Wiesbaden - here the replacement stop can be found about 50 meters before the junction with Dyckerhoffstrasse.
Specific redirect details
When traveling in the direction of Kostheim, the buses must leave the regular route after the Wiesbaden Ost station stop. Turn right onto Albertstraße, then turn left onto Biebricher Straße and continue to the intersection of Otto-Suhr-Ring/Wiesbadener Straße. Here line 6 returns to the regular route, while line 33 continues straight and also returns. The Niederfeldstrasse stop remains on the timetable.
The regular route remains for passengers in the direction of Wiesbaden, but a replacement stop is required for Dyckerhoffstrasse. The effects of these changes also have to do with the previous construction work at the main station, which came into force on July 9, 2024 to improve the transport offering during peak hours. These measures were initiated by the city of Wiesbaden and also had an impact on lines 3, 6 and 33.
Detours through major construction site Emser Straße
But that is not the only challenge that the Wiesbaden bus lines have to overcome. From May 19, 2025, Emser Straße will probably be completely closed for two years, which will result in massive diversions for several bus routes. Lines 3 and 33, which are being rerouted via the 1st ring, are particularly affected. Stops such as Landeshaus, Adelheidstrasse and German Unity Square will be eliminated, and passengers will have to reorient themselves at Dürerplatz.
The Michelsberg stop is also no longer served. In this situation, the transport service advises planning more time for journeys and regularly informing yourself about changes in order to remain mobile in the city center. If you don't know it, you can find the diversion information on the ESWE Verkehr website.
The constantly changing diversions, especially in Wiesbaden's traffic junctions, make good planning and driving essential. A service telephone is available to provide passengers with the most important information. The employees can be reached at 0611 / 450 22-450 from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For all those who regularly travel in the Wiesbaden area, it is important to keep their eyes and ears open. Things will remain exciting until the construction work is completed and traffic flows smoothly again.
