Two strong women are fighting for the title of Palatinate Wine Queen!
On October 2, 2025, the election for the 87th Palatinate Wine Queen will take place in the Neustadter Saalbau. The focus is on two strong candidates: Anna Antonia Cölsch and Susanna Singer. Both women are not only representative faces of the Palatinate, but also true ambassadors for regional wine. While 20-year-old Anna from Deidesheim is currently the wine princess of her municipality and is studying international wine business in Geisenheim, Susanna, 32 years old, brings her experience from the Landau city administration and her soon-to-end term as wine princess of the Southern Wine Route.
The preparations for the year in office are intensive and look at various facets of viticulture. The prospective wine sovereigns are trained in wine-related topics as well as in personality and media training. English lessons are also on the program so that you can be well positioned internationally. During the election itself, guests can look forward to a blind tasting and an exciting expert survey by a jury, led by the reigning wine queen Denise Stripf, the wine princess Lara Karr and wine sovereignty Manuel Reuther. The event will be moderated by the former German wine queen Janina Huber.
An unforgettable election evening
If the election evening starts at 7 p.m., guests can purchase tickets from August 11th. These cost 39 euros and include a welcome sparkling wine, a four-part wine tasting and the free cloakroom. There are also some attractive sponsorship packages for the future Palatinate Wine Queen: a company car from BMW MINI, style advice and fashion partnership with engelhorn, as well as a ring from Goldschmiede Schleuning. The future wine princess will also receive similar benefits.
A tradition in transition
Wikipedia describes the Palatinate Wine Queen as the annually elected representative of the German wine-growing region of Palatinate. The first wine queen was elected in 1931, and the tradition continued from there. With the new regulation from 2024, men who will bear the title of “wine sovereignty” will now also be allowed to vote. The Palatinate Wine Queen has the honor of running for election as German Wine Queen after her term in office.
What is particularly fascinating is that the previous wine queens have repeatedly made history. There were many successful women among them who tied ties to the bushes of David. Gabi Klein, the Palatinate Wine Queen 2009/10, and many of her predecessors were also crowned German Wine Queens, which once again underlines the importance of this election.
A new wine queen? Charlotte Weihl
Particular attention is also paid to Charlotte Weihl, the Palatinate Wine Queen who has been in office since 2023/24. The 24-year-old has a long family tradition in winemaking. She helped in the family vineyards as a child and today combines tradition with modern knowledge while studying international wine business. Her lively, communicative manner makes her the ideal ambassador for German viticulture, and her ambitions to moderate international wine events and get in touch with people reflect her drive.
It remains to be seen whether Charlotte will continue her career as an active representative of the Palatinate or hand over the crown to one of the new candidates. For the region and the Palatinate wine scene, these ladies are definitely a ray of hope who reinterprets the tradition and heritage of the region. Let's look forward to the election evening, which is certainly another highlight in the history of the Palatinate Wine Queens.
