Pirmasens beats Gonsenheim: A win for eternity in the top league!
Last Saturday, October 25, 2025, a thrilling league game took place at the Husterhöhe, in which FK Pirmasens beat SV Mainz-Gonsenheim 3-1. Despite the wet, cold and stormy weather, the players put in an impressive performance that catapulted them to the top of the league table. This game was not only a sporting victory, but also proof of the team's fighting spirit and determination.https://www.rheinpfalz.de/rheinpfalz-am-sonntag_artikel,-die-characterperformance-des-fk-pirmasens-_arid,5825500.html
Coach Daniel Paulus, who remembered Franz Beckenbauer during his walk after the game, made it clear that for him this victory was even more valuable than his previous successes in the DFB Cup and the Association Cup. “That means a lot to us,” said Paulus. His charges struggled with injuries, as regular central defender Michael Müller injured his knee in the previous cup game. His replacement, Miguel Deho, also had to be substituted shortly before the end of the first half, which further complicated the situation.
Fighting return after the break
Despite being behind after the first half, when Elias Walter made it 0-1 in the 38th minute after a mistake in the pass, Pirmasens didn't give up. Coach Paulus made two changes at halftime: Dennis Krob and Nico Wiltz were supposed to provide more offensive pressure. This tactical decision turned out to be spot on. Luca Eichhorn equalized in the 63rd minute, followed by a strong performance from Krob, who converted a penalty just three minutes later to make it 2-1.
The final point was Marc Ehrhart, who made it 3-1 in the 85th minute after a successful combination with Luka Dimitrijevic. Even though Pirmasens missed further chances, they were still very happy about the victory and the lead in the table. Player Silas Gutmann was visibly relieved and was happy about two days off after the tough battle on the pitch.
A look at the table
Thanks to this success, FK Pirmasens remains firmly at the top of the league. The team is in brilliant form and has its sights firmly set on the fight for promotion. Further information about the games and the squad can be found on the club's official website: Kicker.
