Lively Advent calendar in Böhl: Experience contemplation and community!
The contemplative time of Advent is just around the corner, and in Böhl the “Living Advent Calendar” will be brought back to life on November 27th. Berndt Heyde organizes this special event that enables people to experience the hectic pre-Christmas period a little more slowly and to relax in a cozy atmosphere. Not only can they enjoy Advent texts, but they can also make new acquaintances and sing together while exchanging stories.
The concept of the Living Advent Calendar is simple but effective. Every evening, hosts open a “door” in the shape of their front door and invite neighbors to experience a moment of pause. This year, the Engel and Zeefuß families are happy to be the new hosts of the Advent calendar. The Zehfuß family will kick things off on November 27th at Ludwigstrasse 9, and are looking forward to welcoming numerous guests from 6 p.m.

After the first hosts have opened their doors to the contemplative community, further dates in Advent follow:

An invitation applies not only to Böhl residents, but also to people from the surrounding communities. The visit is free, but you are asked to bring your own cup for the warm drinks - this makes the evening even more personal. In a similar spirit to the Living Advent Calendar, which takes place every year in many communities, where neighbors gather in front of windows and doors, this is an opportunity to promote community and come closer to one another. Events of this kind have become established throughout Germany. In other regions, for example in Gauting, the Catholic parish of St. Benedikt and the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Christ Church present their own living Advent calendar. Daily Advent celebrations are organized in front of various front doors, garages or gardens. These celebrations usually last 15 minutes and offer space for candlelight, songs, poems and devotions.
