Vanessa Simon: The new foolish highness makes Speyer shine!

Today, November 11th, 2025, everything in Speyer revolves around the colorful world of fools. The day marks the ceremonial enthronement of the foolish highnesses who take over the reigns for the coming campaign. In the middle of these festivities stands 22-year-old Vanessa Simon, the new highness of the Speyer Carnival Society (SKG). She brings a breath of fresh air and a lot of good mood and inspires not only with her positive charisma, but also with her passion for slipping into different roles and dressing up. This is confirmed by Rheinpfalz from the first page of the newspaper to the last.

“It's more than a job, it's a matter of the heart,” explains Simon about her new responsibility. Whether it's the party party when the weather is nice or the parades when it rains, Vanessa Simon is clear: her commitment goes beyond just wearing a portrait. At their side are numerous carnival fans who keep the custom alive and spread the cheerfulness that is very popular in Speyer and the surrounding area.

Carnival in Speyer – For all age groups

For many people in the region, the carnival is a welcome change from everyday life. Not only does it bring younger people together, but it also has an important role for the community. This makes it clear that the current celebrations not only bring the fun factor, but also strengthen togetherness. According to the Federal Agency for Civic Education, social interaction in clubs has a high priority, which is becoming increasingly important, especially in times of change in society.

But carnival is not the only source of joy and community spirit. There are also major changes in health care in Germany. The introduction of the new HCPCS Level II Code G2211, effective January 1, 2024 for certain physician services, demonstrates efforts to strengthen the patient-physician relationship. This is welcomed by AAPC as it enables financial support for the complex needs of patients.

Healthcare in transition

The changes in healthcare are another important issue that also affects the region. According to the current social report 2024, published by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, inpatient facilities play a central role in Germany. In 2022, there were 1,893 hospitals in Germany with around 480,400 beds. However, the number of facilities has fallen by 6.1% since 2012, which is worrying. Hospitals are therefore faced with the challenge of coping with both the decline in numbers and the increasing demands on medical staff.

Overall, it can be said that the carnival in Speyer today is a shining example of joy of life and community. Under the foolish rule of Vanessa Simon, the tradition is kept alive, while at the same time the fundamental changes in the health sector are increasingly becoming part of the public discussion. Both – the joy of carnival and the challenges of healthcare – reflect the vibrant life in Speyer and give the people in the region a reason for hope and joy.
