ASV Speyer had a start to the season to forget. In the B class, the team's performance was anything but brilliant. The first two league games ended with painful defeats: first there was a narrow 2:3 against SG Böhl-Iggelheim, before the team lost 0:5 against TSV Lingenfeld, relegated from the A class. These results are the result of a mixed preparation for the season, which only resulted in one win and two defeats. Sporting director André Grüner is visibly disappointed and speaks of the need for internal discussions about improvements. “We don’t want to pillory anyone, we want to get out of this situation together,” emphasizes Grüner, in order to strengthen team cohesion.
ASV Speyer was no better off in the cup. The already struggling team lost again against SG Böhl-Iggelheim - and by a disastrous score of 0:8. This means the pressure on the team before the next game against ASV Waldsee, also relegated from the A-class and favorites, is enormous. However, there is reason for hope for ASV fans: a liberation move could bring about a turnaround, even if the challenges ahead are great.
