Lingenfelder remains SPD leader in Edenkoben: A new attempt at government!

The SPD in Edenkoben recently set a new course. At a conference in Hainfeld, Gerhard Lingenfelder was elected as chairman of the SPD community association Edenkoben/Maikammer for two more years. Lingenfelder, who is already an experienced head in the SPD, leads the association with clear goals: the focus is on the 2025 federal election and the upcoming district elections. One of his concerns is that Florian Maier will be successful in the race as a direct candidate and that the SPD will remain the strongest force in the country. Pfalz-Express reports that these priorities also result from disappointment with the last election results.

The meeting, which was chaired by state parliament member Florian Maier, demonstrated the active and committed work of the board over the past year. Another point was the concern about the loss of members in the association: people like Annemarie Harwood from Edenkoben and Uwe Winter from Rhodt have left the party. There is a need for action here to strengthen the base again and to attract new members, especially in the Edesheim local association, where developments have been negative. In contrast, Rudi Jacob reported pleasing growth in the Maikammer local association. Rheinpfalz emphasizes that the board sticks together despite the challenges and addresses current issues in the association council.

Changes in the board of directors

When the new board was elected, Brigitte Bartels was also elected senior representative. This position is important in addressing the needs of the older generation. In addition, Michael Degen was elected as computer and Rudi Jacob as secretary and member representative. The board is supplemented by assessors and auditors, although Lothar Anton is no longer available for another term of office due to health reasons.

This conference also placed a lot of emphasis on integration and exchange within the party. Lingenfelder announced that this will be his last term as chairman. This represents a significant shift for the community association, as a new leadership style may be required in the next election period.

Outlook on the elections

The political landscape in Germany is facing several challenges, and the SPD wants to preserve its original values of freedom, justice and solidarity and find contemporary answers to social questions. With the 2025 federal election on the horizon, direct contact with the grassroots is of great importance. As the Federal Agency for Civic Education reports, the SPD would like to put its social justice claims more at the center again and sees itself as having a duty to take citizens' concerns seriously.

The coming months will be crucial for the SPD in Edenkoben. Lingenfelder's challenge lies in both strengthening the membership base and preparing for the coming elections. The exchange with the grassroots and the stimulation of the political discussion will be crucial in order to position the SPD as a relevant political force in the Edenkoben area.
