Ultra marathon for paws: Ms. Bender collects 3,700 euros for an animal shelter!
In an impressive campaign, Nadine Bender, the chairwoman of the supporting association of the Zweibrücken animal shelter, took part in the “Ultratrail Pfälzer Weinsteig” at the beginning of October. This challenging running event covered a distance of 173 kilometers and included around 6,000 meters of elevation gain. With the goal of collecting donations for the animal shelter, Bender took on the enormous challenge and reached the goal after an impressive 32 hours.
Through her participation, Bender was able to collect donations totaling 3,532.44 euros, which were generously rounded up to 3,700 euros. One generous donor contributed a flat rate of 1,000 euros, while many others oriented themselves towards the required distance and donated one euro for each kilometer covered. The money collected will primarily be used to pay vet bills. Bender estimates that the money donated will be enough for the animal shelter for three to four weeks to provide the necessary treatment for the animals.
Life in the animal shelter
There are currently 24 dogs, 15 cats and around a dozen small animals living in the Zweibrücken animal shelter. The donations collected will help ensure that basic care and, above all, medical care for the animals can continue to be guaranteed. This initiative shows how important it is to stand up for our animal companions and provide support.
Bender didn't just impress at the Ultratrail Pfälzer Weinsteig; She also successfully completed the 100-mile run around the Zugspitze in June. She combines her passion for running with her commitment to the animal shelter in a remarkable way. Next April she is planning her next challenge: a run near Regensburg in which she wants to cover 239 kilometers in one go.
The story of Nadine Bender and her tireless commitment to the animal shelter is an inspiring example of how individual achievements and social responsibility can be linked. Their actions make it clear that everyone can make a difference when it comes to animal well-being. In summary, it shows that both running and animal care in combination can form a strong community that has an impact far beyond the borders of Zweibrücken.
