Serious accident in Saarbrücken: 90-year-old fights for survival!

Early on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B 51 in Saarbrücken. A 90-year-old pedestrian was critically injured while traveling on the road. A vehicle driving from the city center to Völklingen hit the senior citizen and hit his head against the frame of the windshield. The elderly man remained lying on the street and had to be taken to the emergency room at the Winterberg Clinic.

The accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. and the pedestrian's condition remained critical hours after the incident. The public prosecutor's office in Saarbrücken sent an expert to the scene of the accident to reconstruct what happened and to secure evidence. Despite the serious accident, the driver was uninjured and fortunately there were no other victims.

Traffic delays and traffic jams

The accident caused significant traffic jams in the morning rush hour, which also severely affected public buses. The route was closed until around 9 a.m. before the traffic jam gradually cleared. For many commuters, this was an unexpected challenge on Tuesday morning.

Important support for influenced people

In a completely different area that nevertheless affects our society, the American Psychological Association (APA) recently highlighted access to mental health care for transgender, gender diverse and non-binary children, adolescents and adults. On May 1, 2025, HHS released a review of medical interventions for young people with gender dysphoria. The APA emphasizes that treatment decisions should be made jointly by parents, medical professionals and the young affected person. Such decisions should promote not only informed but also respectful approaches, rather than ignoring young people's identity-related needs.

Research has shown that supportive mental health care can significantly help reduce the risks of depression and suicide among these youth. Open access to such support is essential to safeguard the quality of life and rights of all those affected.
