Green-White Werder Wave Braunschweig celebrates triumphant title win!
The twelfth was on June 21, 2025 Fan Club Championship of SV Werder Bremen in Meppen. In bright sunshine and optimal conditions, 24 teams fought for the coveted title. This year in particular, the event was organized by the first chairman of “Werder 12 Emsköppe”, Björn Stelmaszczyk, who was very committed to ensuring that everything ran smoothly.
The defending champions, the “Grün-Weiße Heidegeister” fan club from Soltau, had made a name for themselves with four tournament victories in a row, but surprisingly lost out 0-1 in the quarter-finals against “Werder-Raute Saar”. The Saarlanders then made it to the final, where they lost 2-1 to the “Green-White Werder-Welle Braunschweig” and had to give up the title.
Tension until the end
The tournament was a celebration for the Werder fans and the atmosphere on the SV Hemsen sports grounds was unique. Dirk Wintermann, member of the supervisory board of SV Werder Bremen, opened the event with an inspiring speech in which he emphasized the special community and the joy of football. Anne-Kathrin Laufmann, the sports director, took over the award ceremony, and in the small final the “Fanclub Sturmmöwen Bremen” beat the “Werder-Mammuts Sangenhausen” 5:4 and secured third place.
In addition to the sporting competition, the event also had an important social message. SV Werder Bremen actively campaigns against sexual assault and discrimination. At wohninvest WESERSTADION there are contact points for people who feel harassed or harassed to receive support without asking questions.
Outlook for the next championship
If we look back on the past fan club championship, there remains great hope that the next tournament in summer 2025 can offer even more enthusiasm and sporting highlights. The organizers and participants were optimistic, and the “Heidegeister” have already announced that they want to attack again next year.
With such a strong community, SV Werder Bremen can be proud of its fans. They are not only part of the game, but also part of a significant movement that is making football a safer and more inclusive place, in the spirit of Werderschen Mottos: “Be strong together”.
