Marc Weigel remains mayor of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. He attracted voters to the ballot box with an impressive result of 79.7 percent. His sole challenger, the independent Steffi Karbach, got 20.3 percent. The preliminary election results reflect the trust that citizens have in Weigel's abilities. Around 42,000 citizens were called to vote, but turnout was rather low at around 37 percent. This shows that not all voters considered the unnecessary turnout in this small town to be important.
Weigel, a member of the Free Voters Group, has proven himself in the role of mayor since 2018. He was born in Neustadt in 1978 and has already achieved a lot in the city. His election victory, the second biggest success in his career, was not unexpected, as Karbach was unable to put up election posters due to lack of money. Weigel, on the other hand, was active for his re-election with around 150 posters.

Significant projects are on the to-do list in his new term of office. Among other things, the 2027 State Garden Show will take place in Neustadt.
