Carnival in Marne: Prince couples conquer town hall with a spectacular start!

In Marne, in the Dithmarschen district, the 57th session of the Marner Carnival Society (MKG) will open with a ceremonial entry into the town hall on November 11, 2025 at 3:11 p.m. Everyone can look forward to the traditional program item, which lasts about an hour with a colorful program. The musical procession, the Elferrat and the new prince couples, Bastian I and Sinje I, will accompany the celebrations that were launched last weekend with the proclamation of the princes. Bastian is the son of Anja III, while Sinje is the daughter of Björn I. Every carnival fan in the region should mark this date in their calendar and look forward to the coming celebrations.

During Carnival there is a lot of celebration in the region. More than ten official dates are planned this year. The highlight of the session will be the big Rose Monday parade on February 16th, where over 20,000 visitors are expected. The spectacle will continue next weekend with the session opening in Westerdeichstrich, followed by two large ceremonial sessions on January 31st and February 7th.

A look beyond the celebrations

Cologne is not only famous for its carnival, but also for its impressive cultural institutions such as the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in Paderborn. Named after the pioneer of computer technology, Heinz Nixdorf, the museum offers an exciting insight into 5,000 years of information and communication technology. The permanent exhibition covers 6,000 square meters and attracts more than 110,000 visitors annually. Both technology enthusiasts and history buffs will get their money's worth here. From the origins of writing in Mesopotamia to the latest developments in artificial intelligence, there is something for everyone to discover.

The Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum is the result of a long creative process that began in the early 1980s and culminated in 1996 with its opening under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl. The idea was originally born from historical office machines that were given to Nixdorf Computer AG for its anniversary. Today, various topics are still covered through lectures and workshops, and some exhibits are even accessible via an online database. This shows how deeply information technology is interwoven into all of our lives.
