Alcohol and drugs: Rosenheim hotspot controls risky drivers
In recent days, checks have been carried out in Rosenheim and the surrounding areas, which once again highlight the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The police carried out several operations in which a number of drivers were stopped who were allegedly impaired behind the wheel. Innpuls reports about the specific incidents and their consequences.
On December 5th at 5:30 p.m., a 64-year-old driver was stopped on Königstrasse without a seatbelt. A breath alcohol test showed over 0.50 per mille, which led to a fine, points in Flensburg and a one-month driving ban. Later that night, at 9:30 p.m., the same driver was targeted by police again when he got stuck in difficult weather conditions in Wehrfleck. A test showed over 1 per mille and the police initiated an investigation into drunk driving.
Unique events surrounding drug use
The checks will continue in the following days. On December 6th, a 19-year-old driver was stopped on Bismarckstrasse who was driving without a driver's license and showed signs of drug-related symptoms. Here too, the police took a blood sample and initiated an investigation into driving without a license and drug driving. On December 7th, at 12:15 a.m., a 25-year-old driver was checked in Vogtareuth, who was also drunk. He also received a fine and another driving ban for driving over 0.50 per mille.
The check was particularly explosive in the early morning of December 7th on Kufsteiner Strasse. A 25-year-old driver from Kufstein, Austria, was noticed because of the strong smell of cannabis. The drug test was positive for both cocaine and cannabis, which also led to a fine and a driving ban.
Legal consequences and security risks
The connection between drug use and road safety is undisputed. According to information from the ADAC Even the smallest amounts of drugs in the blood lead to severe legal consequences. Anyone who drives under the influence of drugs or alcohol not only endangers their own safety, but also the safety of other road users. The legal provisions are clear: If there are drugs in the blood, penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment of up to five years can be imposed.
Things become particularly tricky when such drivers even cause an accident or endanger others. In these cases, there are consequences that can result in high costs of between 5,000 and 7,000 euros, not only under criminal law but also under civil law. It also points out the important measures that are necessary after drug consumption and a driving ban, such as the medical-psychological examination (MPU).
The police strongly advise caution and appeal to drivers to act responsibly. Every time you get behind the wheel, the ultimate responsibility for traffic safety lies in your hands. Because one thing is certain: the combination of alcohol and drugs on the road can have fatal consequences.
