Cultural treasure discovered: The new cultural summer in the Duchy of Lauenburg!

Today the Duchy of Lauenburg Foundation rang in the second half of the year with a colorful start. The ceremonial opening of the 20th Cultural Summer on the Canal in Siebeneichen was led by Vice President Barbara Kliesch and board member Jörg-Rüdiger Geschke. This event aims to create cultural highlights and strengthen the network between cultural workers in the Duchy. Particularly noteworthy are the open studios, workshops and exhibitions that take place over the four-week period in June and July. The aim is to explore and celebrate art and culture in a circle. The Cultural Summer attracts not only locals, but also guests from near and far to immerse themselves in an exciting experience. The duchy's worth seeing and hidden beauties come to light, and you can relax and enjoy the ambience at readings or concerts by the water, reports the Duchy of Lauenburg Foundation.

Cultural commitment and diversity

Another highlight is the online magazine “kulTOUR durchs Herzogtum”, which will appear for the second time at the beginning of July. It offers a free overview of the numerous cultural events in the region as well as a platform for exchange among artists. The autumn exhibition, curated by Antje Ladiges-Specht, is also in the starting blocks. Anyone interested can look forward to the publication of the program booklet, which will be available in August at the offices of the Kreissparkasse Herzogtum Lauenburg.

An impressive 30 regions in Germany have been given the opportunity to receive funding for cultural projects. But while in other parts of Schleswig-Holstein two projects from Dithmarschen and Steinburg were selected, the Duchy of Lauenburg district came away empty-handed when it came to the implementation phase. Nevertheless, Klaus Schlie, President of the Foundation, is looking forward to the diverse cultural program in the second half of the year. Promoting culture and engagement

The Herzogtum Lauenburg Foundation is part of the “LOKAL – Program for Culture and Engagement”, which specializes in building long-term networks in cities and communities with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants. This program extends from 2024 to 2031 and offers up to 240,000 euros per project over four years to promote the integration of art and culture into everyday life. A total of over 7.5 million euros are available for this commitment, as stated on the website Federal Cultural Foundation can be read.

This initiative not only aims to promote culture, but also to strengthen dialogue. Art and cultural associations gain new scope and partnerships with schools, daycare centers and other institutions are created. The exchange will be further promoted and new impulses given through academies, application consultations and a final festival.
