The Mercedes driver tried to turn but found himself in an awkward position.

During the maneuver, the Mercedes driver wanted to turn onto a field entrance in order to turn around. The driver of the Renault was unable to avoid a collision, which resulted in the Mercedes being thrown into the ditch. The severity of the situation became even clearer when the Mercedes driver had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries, although according to initial information there was no life-threatening condition. A blessing in disguise: the Renault driver remained uninjured. However, two minor passengers in the Renault required medical attention and were also taken to a hospital.

The rescue forces were quickly on the scene: police, the Bünningstedt volunteer fire department as well as four ambulances and two emergency doctors were on duty. The L225 between Hoisbüttel and Bünningstedt had to be completely closed for about an hour in order to make the work of the emergency services easier and not to get too close to the scene of the accident.
