Mega events in Kiel: music, parties and festivals on the weekend!

The last weekend in August in Kiel has a lot to offer that particularly attracts young people and students. On August 23rd and 24th, 2025, culture and music lovers can look forward to a colorful program. From free concerts at the boat harbor to events as part of the popular Funhouse festivals – that makes hearts beat faster!

Saturday, August 23rd, is all about music. Fans get their money's worth free of charge at the idyllic Kiel boat harbor stage. Pia Charlotta opens the day at 3 p.m., followed by Giulia & Band at 4:15 p.m. and a final concert by The Beat goes on at 7 p.m. If you prefer something a little wilder, go for it Funhouse Festival Don't miss it in the Nordmarksportfeld. The main acts Chapo102 and Ritter Lean are heating things up there until Sunday.

Diverse activities and parties

The jam session in the Alte Mu, which starts at 6 p.m. and is a must, especially for funk fans, provides a bit of variety. A release party by the band The Unnecessarys in the ONspace gallery, which starts at 7 p.m., promises a good mood and fresh music, while admission is free and donations are only being collected for the new roof of the Alte Meierei.

In the evening, numerous parties attract visitors to the city's clubs. For example, the “Summer Party XXL” from 10 p.m. in the Anna, while Ben Briggs provides the best hits from 11 p.m. If you like it a little later, you should head to the Luna Club for “All Night Long with Dangerzone” from 11:59 p.m. And for the reggae community there is the DJ Night at Pincho Nation from 8 p.m. - entry is free!

But it's not just music that's on the program. For creative minds, there is an exciting Gin Alchemy workshop in the Friedrichsort Fortress, while a photography creative workshop “Kiel by Day” starts at 11 a.m. in the Warleberger Hof City Museum. Entry here is free, but registration is required.

Sunday fun and exhibitions

Sunday is more suitable for families. The anniversary celebration in the Alte Mu celebrates the 10th anniversary of Kulturbornelos and the Refugee Law Clinic Kiel. Here everyone can look forward to a free program of parties, panel discussions and workshops. The afternoon is reserved for jazz lovers in the forest tree school, where dance lessons and live music are on the agenda from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a mixed disco on the Kiellinie from 2 p.m. - entry is free here too. Art lovers will get their money’s worth during the “Female Remains” exhibition in the Medical and Pharmacy History Collection. The exhibition is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and offers admission prices of 5 euros, reduced 2 euros and even free for children under 14 years.

If you feel like it, you can take part in the “Learn Saxon” crash course in the Palenke at 7 p.m. in the evening – also free of charge! This weekend promises not only musical highlights, but also numerous other exciting activities and offers.
