Declaring war on racism: large demonstration today in Waiblingen!

On July 8, 2025, numerous people will come together in Germany to demonstrate against right-wing extremism, anti-Semitism and hatred. This movement is part of a nationwide outcry that has continued unabated since the beginning of 2023. Millions of participants have already taken part in protests against the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and its possible collaborations with established parties. According to News.de, workshops, readings and lectures are one of the many ways in which these protests are expressed.

After an intensive weekend of meetings, the Bundestag is now going into the summer break, which will last until September 8th. But that doesn't stop people from standing up for their values. In the coming weeks, events are planned in many federal states that will take the form of open meetings, plenary sessions and demos.

Planned demos in various federal states

The wave of protests is sweeping across Germany. Here's a look at some of the planned demonstrations:

  • Baden-Württemberg: Offenes Antifaschistisches Treffen in Waiblingen am 8. Juli 2025
  • Bayern: Plenum der Studis gegen Rechts in Regensburg am 7. Juli 2025
  • Berlin: Plena der Studis gegen Rechts am 3. Juli und 10. Juli 2025
  • Niedersachsen: ANTIFA-Elch in Hannover am 1. Juli 2025
  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Demo gegen Naziaufmarsch in Münster am 5. Juli 2025

Since the large protest against the AfD party conference in Riesa in January 2025, in which over 1.7 million people took to the streets, the mood in Germany has changed noticeably. [RND]. were counted.

Facts and figures on right-wing extremism

The need for such protests is highlighted by alarming statistics. As the Verfassungsschutz reports, the potential number of violent right-wing extremists has increased to around 15,300 people, while a total of 50,250 people with right-wing extremist tendencies are registered. In 2024, there were more than 37,835 right-wing extremist crimes, an increase of 47.4% compared to the previous year.

In addition to the increasing number of right-wing extremist crimes, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution noted an increase in xenophobic acts of violence. These worrying numbers make it clear how important the fight against right-wing extremist tendencies is and why this summer's demonstrations are so crucial.

The coming days and weeks will show how strong the protest movements are and how effectively their message can combat the burgeoning hatred in society. People are showing that they do not want to stand idly by and are demanding an end to discrimination and exclusion.
