Corona numbers in the Pinneberg district: Only 1 new infection reported!
On August 29, 2025 there will be some of the latest developments surrounding the corona pandemic in Germany and especially in the Pinneberg district. While the total number of infections in Germany currently exceeds the 39 million mark, the situation remains different in the individual regions.
In the Pinneberg district, for example, only 1 new infection was recorded on August 28, 2025 compared to the previous day. A total of 2 new cases were added in the last seven days, resulting in a 7-day incidence of 0.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. In Schleswig-Holstein, the 7-day incidence is slightly higher and is 1.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, with a total of 10 new infections and one confirmed death within the state.
Intensive care beds and hospitalizations
However, a particularly worrying trend can be seen in the utilization of intensive care beds: in the Pinneberg district, all 27 available intensive care beds are occupied. There are currently no COVID patients reported in the intensive care units. This situation is in contrast to the nationwide situation, in which 87 COVID patients are currently being treated in intensive care. It turns out that the utilization of intensive care beds in Germany remains a crucial issue, with the current hospitalization rate being 0.91 cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, as can be read on Statista.
The current overall situation in Germany is mixed: of the over 39 million confirmed cases, 187,824 people have died from or with COVID-19. The number of new infections currently stands at 293, with a 7-day incidence of 1.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
Vaccination status and protective measures
Vaccinations continue to play a key role in combating the virus. According to the latest figures, the vaccination rate in Germany is respectable: 78.1% of the population has received at least one vaccination, while 76.5% are fully vaccinated. Additionally, 62.8% of vaccinated people have already received a booster shot, showing that many people are seeking the additional protection to protect themselves and others.
In view of the figures from the Pinneberg district and the neighboring regions, it remains important to continue to keep an eye on developments. The numbers show we are not there yet in the pandemic, and health authorities continue to face major challenges. It is up to all of us to take responsibility to protect the health of the community and break possible chains of infection.
