Sexual assaults and Nazi symbols: Police operation in Neumünster!

An incident occurred in Neumünster on October 28, 2025 that moved people's minds. According to reports from news.de Federal police investigated after massive insults and the showing of the “Hitler salute” on a train. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on train RE 11223 from Kiel to Neumünster when a 58-year-old man, who was traveling without a ticket, disturbed the peace of his fellow passengers.

The train attendant informed the police about the disruptive passenger who refused to leave the train. When he arrived in Neumünster, the drunken man, whose breath alcohol level was 1.79 per mille, was escorted off the train by federal police. The man was known to the police and was on probation. He is accused of numerous crimes, including several cases of insults, threats, sexual harassment and violations of the right to assembly by using unconstitutional license plates. He was also already banned from Deutsche Bahn.

Criminal consequences

After being presented to the judge, the man was taken to the Neumünster correctional facility. Criminal proceedings were initiated for insults, trespassing, obtaining benefits by fraud and using the symbols of unconstitutional organizations. These incidents are a worrying example of the challenges facing society.

But what does this mean for affected travelers? In a society in which sexual violence and assaults are often not perceived as a structural problem, it is important to draw attention to the background to such acts. As the German Association of Women Lawyers states in a press release, the legal and social handling of sexual violence often falls short of the right to sexual self-determination. Sexual assaults are diverse and affect over 90% of female victims, with perpetrators being predominantly male. These facts highlight the need for comprehensive reform to better protect victims of sexual violence.

Social perception and need for reform

Society's perception of sexual violence is often shaped by myths and prejudices. The German Association of Women Lawyers argues that it is crucial to increase understanding of the various forms of this violence and to take reformative measures. This includes, among other things, the introduction of a “Only Yes means Yes” model to better define consensual sexual acts as well as the expansion of protective facilities and advice centers for those affected.

It is time to address these challenges and take action to create a safer and fairer society for all. The incidents in Neumünster are not just local events, but reflect a broader problem that requires urgent action. This is the only way to create the basis for respectful and non-violent communication.
