Violence in Rendsburg-Eckernförde: Increase in attacks and break-ins!

Current police reports from the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district are causing a stir. On November 10, 2025, kn-online.de reported that the population has been increasingly confronted with traffic accidents and other incidents in recent days. Information on accidents, fires and missing people was published. The police also urgently needed help from the public and appealed to report any suspicious activity immediately.

A look at the current crime situation shows that violent crime has seen a worrying increase in the district over the last year. According to n-ag.de, 1,187 knife attacks were registered, an increase of 130 cases compared to the previous year. Additionally, there were over 9,300 victims of domestic violence. The 3.3% decline in property crimes did not go unnoticed by the tax authorities, but burglaries rose by an alarming 34.7%. This raises questions about the causes and preventive measures.

Alarming development in violent crime

The situation is not unknown in Germany. As an analysis by [Statista](https://de.statista.com/themen/11062/ criminalitaet-in-deutschland-violentcrime/) shows, violent crimes make up less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police, but they have a strong influence on citizens' sense of security. Around 217,000 violent crimes were recorded in 2024, the highest number since 2007. Almost a third of these cases involved suspects under the age of 21. A frightening trend that gives food for thought.

While there were around 165,000 cases in 2021 during the corona pandemic, the numbers have been rising rapidly since then. The reasons for this could be diverse: economic uncertainties and social pressures are just some of the factors that lead to this worrying development.

Role of the population in prevention

The police emphasize that cooperation with the public is crucial for security. In the event of an emergency, the police recommend calling the emergency number 112 and remaining calm at the scene. In serious incidents, the first steps are very important: provide first aid, collect information and follow instructions from emergency responders. For a safe community, it is important that each individual has good skills and remains vigilant.

Particularly violent clashes against police officers and rescue workers have increased again. In 2024, 4,048 cases of violence against emergency services were recorded, an increase of 14% compared to previous years. This will further increase the pressure on the emergency services, and it is to be expected that preventive measures such as the introduction of electronic ankle bracelets for violent perpetrators will soon be up for debate.

In the end, we can only hope that these alarming statistics are not just an issue for the police, but that a new awareness of the security challenges arises among the general public.
