Chess fans Wilstermarsch celebrate their first Bundesliga victory!

The chess friends Wilstermarsch and Itzehoe got off to a strong start in the North Youth Chess League. Last weekend, the youth team celebrated their first win in this exciting league when they beat SC Agon Neumünster with an impressive score of 4.5 to 1.5. This was not only the first success in the new league, but also the reward of hard training work.

The games won were won by the players Peter Hansen, Max Lieb, Rudi Obblender and Julia Marie Junge, while Philipp Golke played a draw and Simeon Rose lost his game. The team is currently in fifth place out of a total of eight teams and is therefore guaranteed a non-relegation place. With five games still to play this season, we are optimistic about what will happen next.

Promotion to the Bundesliga

The joy of this first victory is even topped by another success: the first youth team celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga. Despite a defeat in the last game against SC Agon Neumünster, which was in sixth place until this game, promotion was secured by tied results with second-placed TuRa Harksheide. Thanks to a higher number of games won over the entire Youth League season, the chess fans are promoted to the North-West Youth League. Here they will take on the challenge with other strong teams, including five teams from Schleswig-Holstein and three from Hamburg, as NDR reports.

Anke Behrend, the Chess Friends' youth director and trainer, sees the success as confirmation of the club's excellent youth work. Their commitment is also reflected in the organization of chess clubs at numerous schools in and around Itzehoe. These initiatives are primarily intended to inspire children and young people to play chess and consolidate the chess culture in the region. The average age of the club's members is under 20 years - a positive aspect, as many other chess clubs are currently struggling with aging.

Chess promotion and training

The chess friends Wilstermarsch and Itzehoe offer regular training courses for interested players, and everyone who is enthusiastic about the game of chess is warmly invited to take part. Training times and locations can be found on the Chess Friends website ( www.sfwi.de ). If you have any questions, youth warden Anke Behrend will be happy to help you by phone on 0172 / 8588473 or by email: A.Behrend@sfwi.de.

Meanwhile, the German Chess Youth and the German Chess Federation recognize the clubs' special achievements and promote youth work, which underlines the importance of these initiatives. After all, 292 venues nationwide are listed for funding and awards, which shows how many young people can be inspired to play chess chess.in reported.

The next game will take place on November 23rd in Itzehoe against SK Weisse Dame Hamburg. The chess fans hope to consolidate their place in the league with further victories and perhaps even reach higher.
