Popularity of reality TV in Germany
"Let's Dance" is not only one of the best-known formats on German television, but also representative of the growing influence of reality TV in the media landscape. In 2023, reality programs such as "Let's Dance" and "Bauer sucht Frau" made up more than a third of the program on channels such as RTL, VOX and SAT.1. On average, around 1.16 million people from the advertising -relevant target group switched on for "Let’s Dance", which underlines the popularity of the show.
The origins of reality TV are in the United States, where the formats often represent everyday life. In Germany, however, the genre is often criticized for its way of portraying reality and often referred to as "trash TV". Despite such criticism, “Let’s Dance” remains one of the most popular shows in the genre and continues to attract a wide audience.
The current season and the upcoming final promise to continue to captivate the viewers and offer exciting dance moments. The race for the crown of the best dancer or the best dancer will surely still provide many twists
