What is brewing in North Rhine-Westphalia? June 23, 2025 is a big day for NRW as an investment location. This region has established itself as an important destination for international companies and with the NRW.Global Business AWARD 2025 will honor several companies that are shaping the economic face of the region with their innovative projects. The award recognizes the courage and foresight of these companies, which not only strengthen the colorful international diversity but also create important jobs.
Four companies will soon be in the spotlight: LyondellBasell from the Netherlands, Tactical Solutions from Estonia, Laser ISSE from Turkey and the local Herbeder Holzwarenkontor Jörn Brenscheidt from Witten. Outstanding investments in focus
Let's start with a real giant: LyondellBasell, a chemical company, has committed itself to an ambitious recycling project in Wesseling with a total investment of over 300 million euros. The MoReTec technology aims to achieve a recycling rate of at least 80 percent. That doesn't just sound good, it's also good for the environment!
But the other winners are also impressive. Tactical Solutions has developed freeze-dried special food in Hilden that has a shelf life of eight years - without any preservatives. Their products are sold in 24 countries and they have provided over 100,000 meals to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. This is commitment that impresses!
Laser ISSE, the specialist for industrial laser applications, recently founded its European branch in Duisburg. Their focus on robotics and intelligent controls is another example of the innovation potential in NRW. And last but not least: Herbeder Holzwarenkontor Jörn Brenscheidt. This first handicraft company among the award winners is internationally known for its wooden stairs and achieves an impressive 80 percent of its sales abroad. There's something going on!
NRW as a top investment location
North Rhine-Westphalia also has an excellent reputation globally. In 2023, 283 foreign companies took the step of establishing themselves in the region or expanding their branches.
