In Northwohlde, the freshly paved Fesenfelder Straße will drive in despite an official blocking of various road users. This situation has already led to resentment among residents who fear that the new road could be visibly damaged. The construction work on the street, which runs between Nordwohlde and Fesenfeld, has been ongoing for about two weeks to improve the poor condition of the street.

A couple, Frank and Ute Siegler, reports of their surprising experience with the road closure. Although the road was to be completely closed from August 27th to Tuesday before, the barrier was moved to the rear by several meters on Saturday morning. This was done to give visitors to the sports field access, which the residents find insensitive.

The Siegler had parked their vehicles elsewhere the evening before the blocking and went to their property on foot. However, the decision to loosen the barrier has led to numerous vehicles, including those of forest walks, have driven the road. The Siegler commented that this could damage the freshly paved route. They point out that the total costs for the road, which amount to around 800,000 euros, could possibly be passed on to the residents if damage causes damage from the unauthorized use.

The Bassum building manager, Martin Kreienhop, confirms that the early release of the access to the sports field was carried out in consultation with the city and the road surface was able to carry vehicles at this point. The road construction expert Juri Gellert adds that light vehicles generally do not cause any problems, provided that it is not heavy goods traffic that can actually leave traces.

Mayor warns of possible consequences

Mayor Christian Porsch is concerned about the situation and describes the unauthorized driving of blocked roads as "baddents". If such behavior leads to damage, these would be charged to the cause. The possibility of taking into account those who disregard the laws underlines the importance of traffic safety measures.

Despite the current problems, the city plans to loosen the closure soon. As of today, August 29, the road towards Fesenfeld will be opened, but only as part of a one -way regulation to ensure that no meeting is created. The structure of lawns in the coming weeks should help to better shape the road for future traffic. The construction work is expected to continue until October, after which Fesenfelder Straße should be accessible to all road users.
