Security in Central Hesse: Crime sinks, police are alarm!

In 2024, the police headquarters in Middle Hesse recorded a stable security situation with a total of 48,639 registered crimes - that is 657 less than in the previous year. Crime remains at the previous year's level, the frequency number per 100,000 inhabitants dropped from 4,470 to 4,391. Police President Torsten Krückemeier pointed out that fewer crimes in connection with cannabis contribute to this decline.

Interesting insights were also given at a press conference on crime statistics on the danger of knives. Krückemeier emphasized that knives are easily available and quickly ready for use, which increases the risk of escalating conflicts - especially in combination with alcohol. The police want to sensitize the public by investigating these risks and their consequences.
