97-year-old model building artist inspires Fulda with over 250 masterpieces
Fulda, Deutschland - The 97-year-old Helmut Harm continues to impress with his passion for model building. Since moving from Esslingen to Fulda a year and a half ago, the senior has lived in the AWO senior center and has already made over 250 impressive cardboard models-from majestic castles to detailed aircraft. In an interview, Harm reports that the secret of his success is in patience, scissors and a lot of glue. "That has been for me for a long time," he jokes when he tells of the weeks that he needs for particularly complex objects.
His daughter supports him in ordering materials online and she always amazes her father's creative ideas. When asked what his favorite project is, Harm only waves: "There are so many!" He is particularly proud that around 75 percent of the exhibits in the Schreiber Museum in Esslingen come from him. Harm feels great joy in building - "that was the real payment" - and it seems as if this hobby is holding young. The senior is a real master of his field and his work speak for himself.
