Berlin startup transforms Simson into quiet, green electric machine!

Sachsen, Deutschland - The Berlin start-up Second ride revolutionizes the world of classic Simson-Mopeds with an innovative conversion kit that enables these cult vehicles to operate electrically. Sven Deckert, a 43-year-old hobbyist, has successfully converted his Simson to electromobility. According to Tag24, he now drives through the streets without emission without the typical 2-tact engine. The conversion, which only took two hours, is now carried out by many hobbyists in Saxony.

The SECOND RIDE remuneration costs just under 3000 euros and rely on a sustainable concept: the original piston slide is preserved, while an electric motor is installed in its place. The battery, which replaces the IFA seat bench, has a capacity of 1.9 kilowatts and enables a range of up to 50 kilometers after five hours of charging. Dozens of customers have already made use of this option, and 80 percent of buyers choose self -conversion.

development and improvements

Bodo Jendizik, a satisfied customer, reported that the delivery of his conversion kit has delayed several times, but the waiting time was used for improvements. The new kits now contain castings instead of plastic and an adapted look of the battery. "The conversion was simple and the instructions were very helpful," said Jendizik.

The demand for these conversions shows how the market develops in electromobility. To date, Second ride has sold over 800 of these kits and several workshops in Saxony support the hobbyists in their electrical adventures. According to Deckert, the conversion not only serves personal joy, but also has the goal of saving the old Simson models from the scrap press.

future of electromobility

The developments come at a time when the global focus increases on sustainable mobility. A report by Reev forecast that electromobility 2025 faces decisive course. With regard to the EU climate goals, electric vehicles are expected to reach a market share of over 30 percent in new registrations by 2025, especially in Europe and China.

innovations in battery technology and the expansion of the charging infrastructure are considered centrally to promote the acceptance of electric vehicles. The development of quick charging stations and the focus on the provision of charging stations in residential complexes and rural areas could further accelerate change.

The challenges, such as the network stability while loading several electric vehicles at the same time, persist. Initial solutions from intelligent load management systems are already being discussed. At the same time, the raw material supply for batteries and the sustainability of the materials is a major topic that will deal with industry in the next few years.

In summary, the conversion of conventional vehicles into electromobility introduces the principle of sustainability into everyday life of many people. Sven Decker's experience is just an example of how old values can be combined with new technology in order to enable an environmentally friendly future. The vision of Second ride and the many craftsmen not only becomes an individual solution, but also to a contribution to the global change in mobility.
