Large Frankfurt Check: City Police and Ordnungsamt in action
On Friday evening, a massive control rolled in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen, which brought together the city police, customs officials and representatives of the trade supervision. Around 30 emergency services were gathered at the main entrance of the Frankfurt Ordnungsamt, ready to put a variety of restaurants through their paces. Above all, the regulatory office was concerned about the recent complaints from the neighborhood, which were directed against excessive noise in front of many bars. The regulatory office, represented by Michael Jenisch, pointed out that the exact locations of control were kept secret to prevent the operators from acting in time.
"If that is getting around, it's always bad. Then suddenly everything is fine when we come," explained Jenisch. It was therefore essential to conduct controls anonymously in order to actually become aware of grievances. The city of Frankfurt regularly carries out such measures. "Such large checks take place three times a year," said Annette Rinn, the head of the head.

The operations are not only routine, but also a reaction to the discoveries that have been made in the past. Stefan von Wangenheim, press spokesman for the department, emphasized: "You don't believe what we have found in recent years." One example was the find of four kilograms tuna in a kitchen that was in a questionable condition. "Here you ask yourself what the operator is doing with it," said von Wangenheim sarcastic.
The officials then made their way to Alt-Sachsenhausen in columns across the city. Once there, the examiners split up in teams to check different restaurants at the same time. One of the first addresses was a Shishabar, where the officers inspected the ID cards to ensure that the youth protection law was met. Everything seemed to be in order in this bar: all those present were of legal age and the food inspector was positive about the general conditions.
But a customs officer discovered that the operator had offered tobacco in open packs, which could violate the small packaging compulsion. "In a bar, cigarettes must not be sold individually," said city policeman Gransow. In addition, the operator had not complied with the official requirements regarding carbon monoxide detectors.
The search for defects continued the officials into Frankensteiner Straße, where the situation in another bar resulted in more serious consequences. Here, serious hygiene deficiencies were found, such as rubbed ice machines and dirty walls. Food inspector Klein was dissatisfied with the condition of the kitchen. "The ice cabinet is completely hinted," said Klein and forced that the company will be closed immediately until all defects are remedied.
The assignment lasted a total of three hours and revealed numerous violations: several slot machines were sealed and illegal stays were found. In a restaurant, the officials found that high -priced beer was offered on the menu, but was spent much cheaper beer. These findings not only illustrate the need for such controls, but also throw a light on the dark side of the catering in Frankfurt.
